Stephen KrauseStephen Krause
Professor, Material Science and Engineering
Arizona State University
E-mail: skrause@asu.edu
Dr. Krause received his B.S. degree from Northwestern University, his M.S. degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, all in Materials Science and Engineering. Over the past decade, he has been researching the role of student misconceptions on conceptual change, including the co-development of the Materials Concept Inventory and a Chemistry Concept Inventory. In his current collaborative research he is developing and using internet-based teaching, learning, and assessment tools to study their impact on student attitude, learning and persistence. This work also incorporates study of the barriers and benefits of implementation of innovative pedagogy, including Just-in-Time-Teaching and Frequent Formative Feedback strategies, as well as its effect on change in faculty attitude and instructional practice.
