John Chen
Professor
Department of Mechanical Engineering
California Polytechnic State University
E-mail: jchen24@calpoly.edu
Prior to joining the faculty at Cal Poly in 2008, Dr. Chen was a faculty member in the mechanical engineering department at Rowan University from 1998 to 2008. His research interests include student misconceptions and conceptual learning in core engineering courses, students’ development of expert-like competencies, motivation, autonomy and lifelong learning. Dr. Chen received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
Milo Koretsky
Professor
School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering
Oregon State University (OSU)
E-mail: milo.koretsky@oregonstate.edu
Dr. Koretsky received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from UC San Diego and his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, all in Chemical Engineering. He currently has research activity in areas related engineering education and is interested in integrating technology into effective educational practices and in promoting the use of higher-level cognitive skills in engineering problem solving. His research interests particularly focus on what prevents students from being able to integrate and extend the knowledge developed in specific courses in the core curriculum to the more complex, authentic problems and projects they face as professionals. Dr. Koretsky is one of the founding members of the Center for Lifelong STEM Education Research at OSU.
