Lisa Huettel

Lisa Huettel
Associate Professor of the Practice, Associate Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Duke University
E-mail: lisa.huettel@duke.edu
At Duke, Dr. Huettel led the development of the first-year course, Fundamentals of ECE, which provides a broad yet rigorous introduction to ECE, using an extensive design-oriented laboratory experience to integrate concepts ranging from circuit design to signal processing and control theory. She is also past Division Chair for the ASEE Division of Experimentation and Laboratory-Oriented Studies (DELOS). Her research interests include technology-enhanced pedagogy, active learning techniques, and the use of problem-based learning to enhance student motivation. Dr. Huettel earned her B.S. degree in Engineering Science from Harvard University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.

Kenneth Connor

Kenneth Connor
Professor
Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering, Department of Information Technology and Web Science
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
E-mail: connor@rpi.edu
Dr. Connor’s research involves the application of particle beam based diagnostics to plasmas of interest to the thermonuclear fusion community, high frequency wave phenomena, photonics, smart lighting, engineering education, diversity in the engineering workforce, and technology enhanced learning. He teaches courses on plasma physics, electromagnetics, electronics and instrumentation, electric power, and general Engineering. He was ECSE Department Head from 2001-2008 and served on the board of the ECE Department Heads Association from 2003-2008. He is presently the Director of Education for the SMART LIGHTING NSF ERC and directs the Mobile Studio Project. He holds B.S.E.E. (1968) and M.S.E.E. (1970) degrees from the University of Wisconsin, and the Ph.D. in Electrophysics (1975) from NYU-Poly.
